The National Park Foundation is pleased to announce the confirmation of Charles F. “Chuck” Sams III as the 19th Director of the National Park Service (NPS).
Director Sams is an Umatilla Tribal Citizen and the first Native American to lead NPS. He brings to his new role extensive knowledge and experience working with state and local agencies, Tribal governments, and nonprofit organizations, and has a deep appreciation for the many communities connected to and affected by our national parks.
The National Park Foundation is excited to partner with Director Sams, and we look forward to continuing our work of inspiring all people to connect with and protect America’s national parks.
